How much does lens replacement surgery cost in Turkey? Online prices differ several-fold because they describe different things: one eye or two, a standard or premium lens, tests and follow-up included or not. This guide explains what determines the cost of lens replacement and cataract surgery in Turkey (Türkiye), what a quote should include, and what published prices looked like in September 2026.

What determines the cost of lens replacement surgery?
- The lens category. Monofocal lenses cost least and trifocal or multifocal lenses most, with enhanced monofocal and EDOF lenses usually in between. In September 2026 a German provider listed lens surgery from €2,700 per eye with a monofocal lens, from €3,475 with an EDOF lens and from €3,825 with a trifocal lens. - One or both eyes. Most providers quote per eye. Treating both eyes on the same day can shorten your stay.
- Tests before surgery. Biometry, corneal mapping and a macular scan guide the lens choice; one UK provider includes the consultation and diagnostics in its price.
- Your eye. Previous laser surgery, pseudoexfoliation, a very long eye or past eye tumor treatment can need extra tests, devices or time; see complex cataract surgery.
- The surgical setting. Laser-assisted (femtosecond) surgery costs more, yet a Cochrane review of 42 trials found no clinically important difference in vision compared with standard ultrasound surgery; see laser cataract surgery.

How to read these figures:
- The Turkish figures are self-reported by clinics on a directory site, may be out of date and often do not say whether they are per eye or what they include. Lira prices were converted at the European Central Bank reference rate of 55.7975 lira per euro on 25 September 2026.
- The wide spread is likely to reflect differences in facilities, lens brands and inclusions. Be wary of percentage savings without an itemized quote.
Why is the cheapest package not the right benchmark?
An implant is designed to stay in your eye for life, so the headline price is only part of the comparison:
- Who operates. Ask who will perform your surgery and about their experience with eyes like yours. Prof. Türkoğlu's training and publications are listed on her profile.
- Which lens. The exact model matters, not just the category. In a UK study of 20,763 eyes, the share needing YAG laser treatment within three years ranged from 2.4% to 12.6%, depending on the lens model.
- How complete the assessment is. Missing tests or untreated dry eye can lead to the wrong lens power or type.
- What happens after you fly home. UK government guidance on treatment abroad notes that standards vary, aftercare may be limited and travel insurance often does not cover complications of elective surgery. Agree before booking who will see you locally.

At the practice you can pay in cash, by credit card or by bank transfer. Confirm the currency and timing of payment with your quote.
Will insurance pay for lens replacement?
- Public health systems usually fund cataract surgery with a standard lens only. The NHS uses monofocal lenses, with multifocal and EDOF lenses available only privately; German statutory insurance covers cataract surgery with a monofocal lens only.
- Refractive lens exchange is elective: the NHS does not offer it, and German statutory insurance covers lens surgery only for cataract with a standard lens.
- Treatment abroad. Reimbursement depends on your policy, so ask before you book. EHIC and GHIC cards are not valid in Türkiye; UK travel advice recommends insurance that covers local treatment.
