This website explains eye tumors, cataract and lens surgery and related conditions to patients and families from many countries. Because it deals with health decisions, the information has to be accurate, balanced and clear about where it comes from. This page describes how the content is created, checked and kept up to date.
Who writes and reviews the content
Pages are drafted by medical writers who work from peer-reviewed research and international guidelines. The drafting and translation process is supported by AI-assisted tools, which help to structure and translate the text; every statement is then checked by people against the cited sources.
Every page is submitted for medical review to Prof. Dr. Elif Betül Türkoğlu, Professor of Ophthalmology and ocular oncologist. Her review covers the medical facts and figures, the description of tests and treatments, and whether the page reflects how patients are cared for in her practice. Each page shows its review status: the date of her medical review, or a note that the review is still pending.

The content is based on:
- systematic reviews, clinical trials and other peer-reviewed studies, most of them indexed in PubMed;
- guidelines and statements from professional bodies and health institutions, such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the UK's National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and the US National Cancer Institute;
- regulatory agencies and trial registries, such as the US Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency and ClinicalTrials.gov, for the approval status of medicines and devices and for treatments still under investigation;
- Prof. Türkoğlu's own published research, which is always labeled as hers.
Figures are given with their source, and the references at the end of each page link to the original publications. Where evidence is limited, comes from a single center or is conflicting, the text says so. Treatments that are available only within clinical trials are labeled as investigational, together with the date of their status.
How we write
- Plain language first, followed by the medical term.
- No superlatives and no promises of results; outcomes are reported as published, with their limitations.
- No invented patient stories or quotes, and no statements attributed to Prof. Türkoğlu that she has not made.
- Prices are not published. Cost pages explain what drives the cost and, where reliable data exist, cite dated price ranges published by other providers.
- Each page makes clear which treatments Prof. Türkoğlu performs and which are delivered together with other specialist teams.
Updates
Every page is reviewed at least once a year, and sooner when important new evidence appears — for example a new drug approval, the results of a major trial or a change in guidelines. Topics that change quickly carry an "as of" date, such as "as of September 2026".

Every report is checked against the evidence; if a correction is needed, the page is updated and its review date changed. Patient reviews and images
Ratings are taken from independent review platforms and shown with the date they were checked. Individual reviews are not quoted on this website. Clinical photographs are used only with the patient's written consent and with identifying features removed; most illustrations on this website are diagrams.
Translations
The website is published in English, Turkish, Russian and Ukrainian. Each version is written for its readers rather than translated word for word, uses the same medical facts and sources, and is checked against the English source text; each page shows its medical review status.
