This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar browser storage this website uses, why, and for how long. It also explains how you can give, refuse or withdraw your consent to Google Analytics. How we handle personal data in general is described in the privacy notice.
What are cookies and browser storage?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Browsers also offer similar storage areas. Local storage keeps information until it is deleted, and session storage keeps it only until you close the tab. In this policy, the word "cookies" covers all of them.
Some cookies are strictly necessary. Without them, the website cannot do what you ask it to do, for example remember that you have rejected analytics. Others, such as analytics cookies, are optional and are used only with your consent.
Who is responsible for the cookies on this website?
The website is run by the private eye practice of Prof. Dr. Elif Betül Türkoğlu, registered as Elif Betül Türkoğlu Şen Muayenehanesi (Göz Hastalıkları). The practice is the data controller, as explained in the privacy notice. In this policy, "we" means this practice.
- Address: Fener Mah. Bülent Ecevit Blv. Özdemir Plaza No:42, 07160 Muratpaşa / Antalya, Türkiye
- Questions about cookies: through the request form with the topic "Other question", or in writing to the address above
Your rights under Article 11 of KVKK and under the GDPR, and how to use them, are explained in the privacy notice.

How does Google Analytics work on this website?
Google Analytics is a statistics service of Google (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). With your consent, it shows us which pages are read, so that we can see which information patients find useful. It starts only after you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Before that, and if you reject them, the website does not load Google Analytics and sends it no data.
When it is on, Google Analytics may record:
- the pages you view, and when and for how long you view them;
- the type of device and browser you use;
- your approximate location (country and city), which Google works out from your IP address;
- the website or link that brought you here;
- how you use the pages, such as scrolling, clicks on links to other websites, file downloads and starting to fill in the form;
- that a request was sent with the form, together with the page language.
The _ga cookie holds a random number that lets Google Analytics recognize your browser when you come back.
Google never receives what you write in the request form, its topic or your contact details.
The website is about eye diseases, so the list of pages you read may hint at a health question. This is why we use Google Analytics only with your explicit consent, and why we have limited it:
- Google signals and ad personalization are turned off, so the statistics are not used to personalize ads.
- Google keeps the detailed analytics data linked to your browser's identifier (user- and event-level data) for 14 months and then deletes it in its monthly deletion run. Summary reports without identifiers may be kept longer.
Google LLC is a US company. Google may process the data in the USA and in other countries where Google or its subprocessors have facilities. Data protection rules in those countries may differ from those in Türkiye and the EU. This transfer abroad takes place in line with KVKK Article 9 and, where the GDPR applies, with its rules on international transfers.
The legal basis is your explicit consent, which you give in the cookie banner. You can withdraw it at any time with the "Cookie settings" button.
How can you change your choice?
- On this website: click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page. The banner opens again, and you can choose "Reject". The website then stops Google Analytics and deletes its cookies from your browser. Withdrawal does not affect processing that took place before it.
- In your browser: you can delete or block cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block all storage, the website cannot remember your choice, so the banner may appear on every page.
Rejecting analytics cookies changes nothing for you: you can read every page and use the request form as before. We ask for your choice again after 12 months.
On what legal basis do we use strictly necessary storage?
Without strictly necessary storage, the website cannot work as you expect. It could not remember your choice, your language or the details the request form needs. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a safe, working website (KVKK Art. 5; GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). For visitors from the EU and EEA, the ePrivacy rules also allow such storage without consent, because it is strictly necessary for a service you ask for.
The items this website stores for visitors contain only your choice with its date and a version number, a language code, a topic and a page address.
Will this policy change?
We may update this policy when the website, the services we use or the law change. The current version is always published on this page. If a change affects your choice, the banner will ask you again.
